Our family vacation has started with a splash! What were some of your best vacation times?

When I was about 7 or 8 years old, my family went to San Diego. We had great fun at the Wild Animal Park, Sea World, the Queen Mary and visiting the Spruce Goose. That was all cool, but I really remember the plane ride home. As United employees flying "space available" (which is even below the stand-bys) we struggled to get on a plane all day. Finally, we managed to get first class seats, but only two were together, so I sat by myself. The person sitting next to me was a college student. During our flight, he taught me how to play 5 card draw poker (with a bag of change he had as our "chips") and he told me about his friend. His friend and fellow student at the time was a Prince from Saudi Arabia, and he gave me an envelope with the Prince's return address on it. I still have that envelope today (it would just take me a while to find it). That's just one of my best vacation memories

This vacation was a 10! Many days in the sun and water, lots of fun, no clock, and plans on the fly. My cousins made our time fabulous. 10 days, 6 states, 2653 miles, and 2 geocaches. (more on that another time)

Thats a lot of traveling. Glad you all had fun. I hear that Shelby's name got written in the sand at the beach.
My brother does the geocache thing and tried to explain it to me one time. I think there is one in Plainfield that we looked up. Have you been doing it for a while?

Maybe I should rephrase that to avoid confusion. Shelby (my daughter) thought it was great that Jenna wrote her name real big in the sand.

Got it. We wrote her name at Cocoa Beach on a beautiful day. Too much sand though. Who knew sand could invade everything that touches it. As for geocaching, there are hundreds in the area. I do it occasionally, so I have found 60+. It's a fun diversion.
